[ILUG] Volunteering

Hi Irish LUG,

I'm currently living in Dublin. I'm a professional Linux system
administrator, however, I'm currently unemployed.

I was just wondering, does anyone here knows if are there any charitable
organization within the area of Dublin which would potentially need help
with Linux or Networking activity? (Like building Linux firewalls, file
servers, proxy servers, backup schemes, etc, etc)

I enjoy what I do and engaging in a skilled volunteering project could be
great fun.

Hi Rodrigo,

If you know anyone in the medical profession (dental, nursing, doctor etc.) then you might consider setting up a demo of GNU Health and demonstrating it to the owners and staff of any small business they work at.

You would likely not get many conversions but the goal would be to spread the word so that when setting up a new surgery or pharmacy etc. they might consider it.

Jamaica adopted the system nationwide a number of years ago, a presentation on that is below:

If someone was setting up a new business you could also mention GNU Cash, LibreOffice etc.
