I'm planning on reviving an old box to use as a sound system.

It's 32 bit, only has a CD player and no wireless card - Yes, it's **that** old!

1) I want to install a Red Hat/Fedora based distro (with light GUI) - does anyone have any recomendations? I could possibly hook it up to the modem for the install, but would prefer to avoid this.

2) I'll need a wireless card - recommendations for one that works well with Linux and 32 bit systems?

If anyone requires supplementary information, please let me know!

I agree on the Xfce as a desktop, also you could go really spartan and use Openbox as a GUI, very good documentation of it's own, but also especially on the Arch Linux Wiki.
In fact there is a nice distro ArchLabs Linux which is a bit like the old Crunchbang# but using Arch with Openbox. Not sure it it is 32 bit though.

Cheers
Francis

If you are just using it for music, you could try Vortexbox:
https://wiki.vortexbox.org/what_is_vortexbox
They have 32 bit images, which you can install, but they are not
recommended.
I have used Vortexbox myself, and it is great. It comes with MPD and
facilities to 'transfer' CDs to the computer to share over DLNA or
DAAP.
